Fern Tree, A Rock Resorts Spa at Half Moon

by Candace Sampson

Ask any woman where she’d most like to spend a day and you’d probably hear the word “spa” repeated over and over again. And why not? After all, spas are where we go to restore our souls and bring equilibrium into our chaotic lives. They are the very essence of “serenity now”.

Not all spas are created equal though. Take Fern Tree Spa at Half Moon for example. (You can find my review of Half Moon as a luxury family destination here)

Fern Tree is Jamaica’s largest spa at 68,000 square feet — and while the size is impressive, it’s what they’ve done with it that will knock your socks off. For starters, despite it’s size, it never feels anything but perfectly intimate and totally relaxing.

You can find tranquility and even solitude at one of the three water features with cascading falls. You might even come up with the answer for world peace while at the Reflection Pool.

Relax in an outdoor tub with bougainvillea gently cascading around you. Then rinse off under an outdoor rain shower on a secluded patio.

Treatments run from the traditional — think pedicures, manicures, facials — to the unique — like a Seashell Massage or a Coffee Coconut Scrub. You can also quiet your mind at one of the most serene places I’ve ever seen, the Yoga Pavillion. Look at the stunning surroundings below. Stress does not creep in here.

And if you don’t think a day would be enough, Fern Tree has six oceanfront spa suites. What’s a spa suite you may ask? Well that’s just a little bit of heaven carved out for you and your significant other that’s all. These rooms have chroma-therapy baths, rain showers, in-room massage tables, and therapedic beds. Also, just outside your door is a spa hut over the ocean. Here you can have spa services with the ocean as your accompanying soundtrack. Can you say spahhhhh?

I’ve actually never had the urge to go to a spa, though this one does look quite nice.
