Triscuit. Your Stage is Set.

by Candace Sampson

There is nothing I love more than entertaining. They don’t call it that for nothing you know? Entertaining is all about creating your own show for your guests. It’s about setting the stage with your decor, your guests and most importantly, with your food. With Triscuit, your stage is set. Triscuit comes in a wide variety of flavours to help provide inspiration for entertaining, occasions, events and even snack time. What? Even snack time can have some flair too.

Like this recipe for Classic Crab Dip. It’s my favourite with Triscuit crackers.

Classic Crab Dip

1 can of crab meat
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp horseradish (or more if you like it stronger)
1 tsp lemon juice

Cream all ingredients together, except for crab meat. I like to use my paddle attachment in my stand mixer. Once everything is well-blended, fold in crab meat. Transfer to dish for serving. Serve cold or heat in oven at 350F for 15 minutes or until warm throughout. When serving cold I like to garnish with chopped green onions. When baking in the oven I sprinkle with a little Parmesan cheese.

What I love about this recipe is that it’s terrific served cold or hot. It’s great for parties or just snack time. It’s wonderfully versatile, just like Triscuit Crackers. My youngest daughter loves taking this classic crab dip cold to school with her favourite Triscuit Thin Crisps, Cheddar and Fine Herb.

Triscuit Cheddar and Fine HerbI like to serve it warm to guests with Triscuit Rosemary and Olive Oil. Just a small change in the flavour of the cracker subtly changes the flavour for the dip so that each cracker adds a new taste experience.

Triscuit wants to inspire you to create your own recipes and set the stage for your own entertaining.  Check out this very cool app on their Facebook page called Your Stage is Set. I created my own inspiration board for a Summer BBQ I’m planning. How much fun does this look? I chose the lower sodium Triscuit Crackers for my husband who had a heart attack in November, and went with a Mexican theme with fresh salsa and guacamole. I even added in Mojitos and Margaritas.  Start with your flavour inspiration and add elements to create your own unique Inspired Occasion board. What would you do with Triscuit crackers?

I love Triscuits!  Crab dip isn’t my thing BUT a mexican salsa type dip definitely would be!
