By //  by Candace Sampson Leave a Comment

Welp, you've gone and done it now. The big day is just around the corner but you’ve procrastinated too long and now Amazon can’t even get to you in time. That's a good thing, because this is your opportunity to blow Christmas out of the water with experience gifts that will be remembered long after that thing-a-ma-bob you almost bought in a panic. Why Experience Gifts are Better Than Traditional Presents Whenever my kids or partner ask me what I'd like for a gift, I give one of two …

Trolls Helped Me See What’s Important

By //  by Jennifer Pitt Leave a Comment

I am a working mom of a very busy 3.5-year old, and with my husband working a night shift, we don’t get enough time in the day to just be together. It’s tough, and we absolutely cherish the time we do find; so no, that laundry pile is going anywhere any time soon. A lot of things like that fall by the wayside in our effort to spend as much time together as a family as we can; thank god for my dear friend who has a cleaning business—she does my floors and bathrooms, so they at least get done …

The Great Gilly Hopkins Nails It

By //  by Jennifer Pitt 1 Comment

Movies need to get quite a bit of information across to the viewer in their very short opening scenes, and The Great Gilly Hopkins did not disappoint; Gilly showed her tough-as-nails attitude and made me love her completely within a few seconds; what's not to love about a sassy tween?? Says the naive mother of a sassy threenager... Adapted from the award-winning, 1978 novel by Katherine Paterson, it's not a "new" story--angry tween bounced from foster home to foster home, finds family at …

Find Summer Perfection at Pinery Provincial Park

By //  by Louise Gleeson 3 Comments

I grew up in Southwestern Ontario, so a last-minute trip to one of the many area beaches was an easy outing for my family. Now that I'm raising my own family, going back to those beaches always fills me with a wonderful nostalgia. We don't live close enough to make it a day trip though, so camping at the Pinery Provincial Park has become an annual summer trip for us and something we look forward to when the snow is still on the ground.  Campsites The Pinery Provincial Park is a …

A Bunny Worthy Easter Brunch

By //  by Dee Brun Leave a Comment

Easter Brunch is one of my favorite things. I think because it is an official sign that summer is finally on it's way. The colors of Easter are pretty and fun. Brunch in itself is FABOOSH because it is served late enough in the morning it is more than acceptable to have a cocktail. After all brunch without alcohol is just a sad late breakfast...and of course there is the chocolate. SO...let's start with THE BOOZE!! I love a good morning Sangria. The key is to keep it simple. A nice …
