(Updated April 2025 – same delicious smoothie, new favourite status) This blueberry date smoothie came together by accident during one of those “use what you’ve got” mornings, and it turned out to be chef’s kiss. Naturally sweet from dates and loaded with fibre, this blueberry date smoothie has become my go-to breakfast when I need something quick, filling, and not full of junk. It’s five ingredients, no nonsense, and a sneaky way to feel like you’ve got your life together by 9 a.m.

Blueberries

Medjool Dates

Spinach

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk of your choice
  • 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2-3 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 tbsp flax seed
  • 1 tbsp chia seed
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 2 handfuls baby spinach

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth. Serve promptly

Yes! Just soak the dates in warm water for 10–15 minutes before blending to soften them up. This helps even basic blenders do the job smoothly.

Absolutely. It’s naturally sweet, full of fibre, and doesn’t taste “too healthy” (you know what I mean). Great for breakfast or an after-school snack.

Can I prep this in advance?
Yes. You can portion everything into freezer bags and dump into your blender when you’re ready. Or make the smoothie and keep it in the fridge for up to 24 hours—just give it a shake before serving.
