One of the things I love the most about being a Walmart Mom is surprising people. Where did you get that great throw pillow? Walmart. Where did you find that cool bike? Walmart. Your garden looks amazing, where did you get all your flowers? Walmart. Are you sensing a theme here?
My friends and family are constantly surprised at the amazing things I pick up at Walmart. I’m not. I’m just glad I get to spread the word.
Last week we hosted a barbecue and served Grilled Fresh Salmon with a Lime Butter Sauce. The salmon was delicious and inevitably the question was asked, Where did you get the salmon? No surprise to you of course that I answered Walmart.
Walmart has been long known as a place to get everyday supplies, but there’s another side of Walmart for Canadians to discover and that’s great, fresh food.
I recently had the pleasure of taking part in a Walmart tailgate party for my daughter’s cheer gym. The Walmart tailgate party was a great way for the families of Black Widow in Ottawa, Ontario to enjoy, see and taste Walmart’s quality fresh food.
Guests were delighted and you guessed it, surprised, to find out that Walmart carries 100% Canadian-raised Angus beef, Maple Leaf Chicken and Canadian salmon. Also on the menu was a great selection of fresh produce and baked goods straight from our local Walmart store.
I only heard rave reviews about everything served that day and I’m happy that more Canadians are coming to discover what I’ve known for quite some time now. Walmart can’t be beat for their fresh food. In fact, Walmart feels so strong about their fresh food that they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied, bring in your receipt for a full refund.
Here’s some other great information you may not know:
o Walmart Supercentres have a wider variety of Canada No.1 grade fruits and vegetables, with an emphasis on carrying local produce when available, and in season.
o Walmart Supercentres now carry an expanded assortment of organic produce.
o You can find baked fresh bagels, artisanal breads, custom cakes and pastries every day in over half of the Walmart’s Supercentres.
I had a terrific time introducing more people to the great, fresh food of Walmart, but I also was able to hang with Chef Corbin from The Food Network for the day. We shot one of several videos for Walmart that aims to help families find easier, healthier and budget-friendly ways to feed their children by providing cooking for kids solutions. Check out this great recipe for Chicken Fajitas below. I know I’ll be referring back to this one frequently over the summer months.
