Think Outside the Island Destination Box: Family Travel in Costa Rica

By //  by Dee Brun 1 Comment

For many years Costa Rica was thought of as a travel haven for backpackers and thrill seekers. There were very few all-inclusive resorts and it was just not a "Family Travel" destination. This's all changing! Central America has become a much sought after travel destination and Costa Rica is leading the way. Several years ago my husband and I spent two weeks in Costa Rica seeking ultimate thrills and experiencing every adrenaline rush possible. We loved the country and it's …

Cranberry Mojito

Cranberry Mojito (aka The Sneaky Lady)

By //  by Life In Pleasantville 2 Comments

This recipe for a Cranberry Mojito has been a summer favourite around here ever since a friendly server at our local watering hole succumbed to my pleas and divulged the recipe. I share it often because I'm generous that way, plus it lets me use the word "muddle," which, and I don't care who you are - is just plain fun to say. You may want to start Googling "How do I grow mint in my garden?" because you're going to be using acres of it once you taste how refreshing this summer cocktail is. …

A Bunny Worthy Easter Brunch

By //  by Dee Brun Leave a Comment

Easter Brunch is one of my favorite things. I think because it is an official sign that summer is finally on it's way. The colors of Easter are pretty and fun. Brunch in itself is FABOOSH because it is served late enough in the morning it is more than acceptable to have a cocktail. After all brunch without alcohol is just a sad late breakfast...and of course there is the chocolate. SO...let's start with THE BOOZE!! I love a good morning Sangria. The key is to keep it simple. A nice …

THE PEOPLE ARE COMING ..How to Destress your holidays

By //  by Dee Brun Leave a Comment

Someone told be the other day how many shopping days were left until Christmas and I nearly fell over. How did this happen? Where was I? I hate when holiday hell just sneaks up on you like that. I need time to get my brain ready long before I can think of actually making plans and shopping for the season. On top of all that, this year we are now new owners of a bed and breakfast. Can you say mental break down? I decided to put a few things into perspective when it comes to this year's holiday …

grand raspberry fizz

Grand Raspberry Fizz

By //  by Candace Sampson Leave a Comment

Meet my new favourite drink, the Grand Raspberry Fizz. No one was more surprised than me to find out that Grand Marnier can be the star attraction in a cocktail. I'd only ever given Grand Marnier the nod as a bit player. I use it as an add-in for other drinks, it's orange flavour adding depth to my sangria recipe. This drink has changed all that. I love the refreshing taste of this drink and it's the perfect through the holidays (I'm thinking New Year's Eve) but would also be ideal …
