Get Happy in Jamaica

by Candace Sampson

I am missing Jamaica today. After six visits I feel like it’s a home away from home. Most obviously, I miss the weather. But I also miss the food, the music, and the people. What made me so nostalgic for the land of green, gold and black? It was this commercial from Volkswagen that was released for the Superbowl.

I laughed and laughed when I saw it, because this, my friends, could be my husband. Whenever we return from Jamaica he talks like this for months. Well, maybe not this good, but you get what I’m saying. The Jamaican vibe is infectious. Every trip to Jamaica has been nothing short of delightful, so I thought I’d share some of the amazing resorts I’ve stayed at with you, just in case you’re in the mood too.

I can’t say enough good things about these properties and I would send my mother there. So, if I would send my mom, you know you’re in good hands 🙂

Beaches Negril

You simply can not beat Beaches for an all-inclusive family vacation. They are magic. Families can spend as little or as much time together as they’d like, no one is bored and everyone is happy. Everything irie, mon.

Beaches Ocho Rios

Formerly Beaches Boscobel, this property has recently undergone a refurbishment. Hard to believe it could get any better. This property has an incredible waterpark and a beautiful, private beach. It’s also close to the world famous Dunn’s River Falls. You can book at either of these Beaches properties right now through Thomas Cook Kids First program and receive up to $500 in added value.

Couples Swept Away

My husband and I maintain that this was one of the best vacations we ever had. Great food, great service and not a care in the world.

Half Moon, A RockResort

One word: luxury. Okay, okay, I’m wordy, one word is not enough. How about stunning, elegant, refined, beautiful, delicious, peaceful, and serene? Don’t let all those fancy words fool you either. This is not only an ideal place for a couples vacation, but it’s also perfect for family or group vacations.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa

The Grand Palladium is an elegant resort located 40 minutes from Montego Bay. It’s grand in scope and service. And ladies, the spa is to die for, so check the kids in at the amazing kids club and go rejuvenate for a couple of hours.

Holiday Inn Sunspree Montego Bay

Please note I did not actually stay at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. I did however have the privilege of visiting it on a press trip and was thoroughly impressed. Great rooms, gorgeous beach and super close to the airport….which means your holiday starts even earlier. This resort is considered budget friendly but comes across as so much more. Kudos to Holiday Inn.

Now turn da frown, da other way around and get click happy on these links and find yourself getting happy in Jamaica real soon.

I can’t decide if I should curse you or thank you for posting this? Probably a bit of both.

I’d get happy for the mere joy of escaping this cold weather. My husband, though, would love to travel to Jamaica. Maybe one day.

We’ve only been to the Beaches Boscobel, and loved it! I think we’re going back next year. V was 2 the first time, I don’t think she remembers much, 6 will be fun.

Beaches Ocho Rios (formerly Boscobel) was our first introduction to Beaches and we fell in love with it! Such an amazing holiday.
