Frozen Sangria or Slushies for Adults

Frozen Sangria Recipe

Your favourite summer drink, frozen.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups red wine I use Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh squeezed orange juice fresh is better, but store bought will get you through a sangria emergency
  • 2 tbsp Triple Sec (or other orange liqueur)
  • 600 g frozen mixed berries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 oranges, sliced

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, stirring until sugar is dissolved and chill for a minimum of four hours.

  2. Remove from fridge, discard orange slices, and pour remaining mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pushing berries to extract juices. Discard berry pulp.

  3. Pour into two rectangular, not too deep, containers with lids and place in freezer. (9x13 works well)

  4. Check every hour and stir with fork.

  5. Once completely solid, run fork through frozen sangria to make it slushy.

  6. Scoop into glasses and serve with a orange slice.
