What’s Up With The Grey Hair Trend?

by Candace Sampson

Let’s discuss the grey hair trend shall we? At first I did not understand this at all. Most women I know spend much of their beauty routines trying to cover up their grey; and here there were women actually DYEING their hair grey? I think it was Kelly Osbourne who I first saw sporting this trend and I honestly did not think it would catch on. But then I started seeing young and beautiful girls in my neighborhood getting lighter and lighter locks and I soon realized that they were going for this all grey look…and you know what? It didn’t look so bad!

Here’s the catch though…all the lovely now grey haired ladies I knew were in their early 20s. And let’s face it – when you’re in your early 20s, if you’re bold enough, you can pretty much get away with anything!

Another caveat to this trend? You can’t shy away from attention. Meaning your clothes and makeup need to make a statement too or you can just end up looking tired and like you gave up. So there’s no way heading out for a quick run to the grocery store in your yoga pants will fly – your look has to be really deliberate to pull this trend off.

And lastly, what some may forget is that beauty takes time. And in this case an AWFUL lot of time. One girl I know spent 11 hours in the salon chair. Let me repeat that. 11 hours. There is absolutely NO WAY I would spend that amount of time getting my hair done. And if you don’t want to do the 11 hours straight, it then means months of repeat (and expensive) visits to your hair dresser.

At the end of it all, I do admire the lovely young ladies that can rock this look – because they are TRULY rocking it with confidence. As for me, perhaps years from now I’ll be rocking the all grey look too – but in my case I’m thinking it will be naturally.

What do you think about this Grey Hair Trend? Yay or nay?

Yeah – there’s no way I’d sit for 11 hours for anything other than maybe a flight 😛

My daughter wants me to be grey/white but I’m not ready to be old, there I said it, old. Next week I go in and my red will be revitalized and I will be hot again, not old. lol

Yes. That I would sit for, but even then I would need a bit of a walk at some point plus I’d expect a little pillow. *snorks*

It’s just so silly. Maybe even a strong argument for youth being wasted on the young!

That is awesome! I know so many people who began going grey in their teens. It must be fairly common.

    You, though, are unique! 🙂
