5 Best Reasons for Fall Family Travel

by Candace Sampson

Fall family travel is ideal for families that are willing to wait until the summer rush is over to get away and, in my opinion, it’s the best time to get away with your loved ones. Here are five reasons why waiting until fall is better!

Weather

The weather is cooler but not cold yet, so it’s perfect for touring around without having to worry about little ones suffering from heat exhaustion. It’s also not cold enough that you have to worry about packing bulky coats and jackets with you.

There is nothing better than New York City in the Fall.

Pricing

Fall is considered off-season for most tourist destinations so your dollar will go further in mid-October than mid-July. Cruises are a particularly good deal right now with many offering savings up to 55%. Also look for deals at the fabulous Beaches resorts.

No Crowds

The best reason to head out in the fall is the lack of crowds. You’ll be able to see more and cover more ground when you have shorter line-ups to stand in and sparser crowds to maneuver through. No where is this more relevant than theme parks. This also ties in with your wallet again because you’ll get more bang for your buck at places like Disney, Universal and Six Flags when you get to see more of the park.

Fewer line-ups at theme parks, like Disney, means you’ll cover more ground and get more bang for your buck!

Fall Colours

Mother Nature is majestic this time of year and yes, even your kids are wowed by it. Consider a train trip through the wilderness, like the Agawa Canyon Tour Train or visit popular ski destinations like Mont Tremblant or Aspen. And yes, I’m bringing up the money again but there are considerable savings to be had at the ski resorts right now.

Embrace the Season

Find the pumpkin patches, the corn mazes and the apple orchards, right in your own backyard. Travel doesn’t have to take you far to be enjoyable. If you’re lucky enough to live in Eastern Ontario, don’t miss the amazing Pumpkinferno or Fort Fright.

I’ve always loved fall holidays. Although, I think ANY time is the best time for family travel 😉
