If you’re here, you’re likely looking for something sweet, pastel, and extremely snackable. Thankfully this bunny bait delivers. I’ve been making some version of this mix for years, and it never fails to disappear faster than the chocolate bunnies on Easter morning.
This no-bake snack mix hits all the marks: sweet and salty, soft and crunchy, fun to make with kids, and dangerously easy to eat by the handful. While a lot of recipes lean on Chex cereal, I’ve always loved using popcorn as the base. It gives you that airy crunch, and it’s the perfect vehicle for catching all that melted white chocolate and sprinkles.

That said, this is a choose-your-own-adventure kind of recipe. Throw in more pretzels for an even saltier bite? Do it. Need to clear out your Easter candy stash? Toss it in. I’ve made this with pastel Smarties for a more Canadian twist, mini eggs, marshmallows, and even frosted animal cookies. The rule here is simple: if it’s sweet and looks cute, it probably belongs in the bowl.
Bunny bait is also great for gifting. Package it up in little treat bags with ribbon for class parties, neighbours, or last-minute Easter favours. It holds up well, travels great, and can be made a few days in advance — which is basically a holiday miracle.

If you’re more of a cereal fan, you can swap the popcorn for Chex, Cheerios, or whatever’s in your pantry. This recipe doesn’t judge.

The most important part? The white chocolate. That’s the glue that brings everything together — literally and figuratively — and makes it feel just indulgent enough to be a “treat,” even if you’re sneaking it from the container the night before Easter brunch (we’ve all been there).

Pro Tip: Turn this into a hands-on activity for kids! Set out bowls of ingredients and let them build their own bunny bait cups. It’s fun, messy, and doubles as a party or classroom activity that keeps little hands busy (and sticky).

Easy Bunny Bait Recipe

Bunny Bait Recipe
Make this delicious bunny bait to give at Easter, or just keep it to yourself. No shame.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unpopped popcorn kernels
- 12 oz. white chocolate candy melts
- 1 1/3 cups pretzel sticks
- 1 12 oz. bag pastel coloured M&M’s
- Easter Coloured Sprinkles
Instructions
Directions:
-
Make popcorn…..the easy, healthy way.
2)Pour into a large bowl, removing any unpopped kernels. Toss in pretzel and M&M’s.
3) Melt white chocolate in microwave in microwave safe bowl on high in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval until melted and smooth. Drizzle half of melted white chocolate over popcorn mixture, then stir, tossing gently a few times with rubber spatula. Then drizzle remaining half of melted white chocolate over popcorn, and gently stir until evenly coated. Do not over-stir.
4)Pour mixture into a single layer onto to wax paper.
5) Sprinkle with Easter sprinkles before chocolate hardens. Allow to cool and harden, then gently break into pieces and lock yourself in a room and enjoy. I kid.
6)Store it in a airtight container or fill cello bags and tie with pretty ribbon to give away.
Recipe Notes
This would also be great for birthday parties as a party favour.

So pretty! and you’re right it would be a fantastic loot bag.

I don’t think I should make this as it wouldn’t make it to the giving away stage. Crack indeed.

I wish you didn’t share these sinful recipes. I feel compelled to try it, but I know that I’ll “sample” until there is very little left for anyone else!

Wah. I cannot do the popcorn bits myself because it screws my stomach up in a not so pretty way. My kids would so sneak all of this and then also be sick. Wah! Maybe I shall make it for
Friends kids and give it away. It is too pretty to resist. Bloody Pinterest strikes again. Did you see Jon BonJovi over there tonight? Holy every bit as nummers as this recipe!

Just remember, you have a neighbour that is always willing to take one for the team.

The children and my husband learned long ago that if they do not hide their stash from me, I will harvest it. I am a bad mom with a chocolate addiction.

OMG so making this…LUV thank you
Candace
I have a secret stash that I try to keep hidden from the three other chocolate addicts in this house 🙂

Totally steeling this! Are those come shaped cellos? From where? HAPPY EASTER!
Candace
You can find them at Michael’s but they can be expensive. I get mine at a party place here in Ottawa. Also Wal-Mart has some cute bunny shaped ones I bought yesterday.
Candace
You may not love it so much after you eat half of it. Not kidding….totally addictive.
Samantha @Blissful Domesticity
Great idea! I will totally make this if I have time on the next leg of our road trip!

I am making this this year! Yes!
Happy I found it. 😀

Honestly, my kids look for excuses to make this. Leprechaun bait, Canadian bait, turkey bait….you name the occasion they’ve found a name and a reason to make it. Warning, it’s highly addictive.

I bet you could skip the popcorn and use cherrios or chex cereal or puffed rice cereal as other fillers
Candace Derickx
I don’t see why not Whitney, although it may make it a touch more sweeter.

And here I thought reading your tweet this was going to have something to do with potato chips! But salty and sweet always works for me! YUM!
Candace Derickx
Occasionally, I try to step away from the potato chips. Occasionally.

This is so cute, I should make these this week.
