Global Resort Homes: Perfect for Group Travel to Disney

by Candace Sampson

group travel to Disney

Recently we arranged to have each of our daughters best friends and their families join us for a trip to Disney and Universal. For us it was about creating memories for our girls that they’ll talk about years from now. Thankfully we also happen to really enjoy the company of these kid’s parents, so it was a great way to make memories for us too. Since everyone was in sync with each other and we had the ground rules of group travel covered we felt that staying in a Global Resort Home was our best bet for accommodations.

We couldn’t have been more right. From past experience, I knew that the house would be exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated, but I think it speaks volumes that three families were able to stay for one week in a house together and never feel claustrophobic. Each adult had their own bedroom and bathroom which covered privacy needs. The girls were able to share a bedroom with their bestie which in tween speak is “totes awesome”. Our kitchen was perfect and helped save money since we were able to have breakfast every morning before we hit the parks and we had somewhere to pack a lunch too.

What really made staying in this house perfect though was that it gave us downtime. Hitting the theme parks can be exhausting and at the end of the day you need a peaceful refuge. It also gave us a great place to relax on days we didn’t go to the parks. Instead of hanging around a pool with countless other people, we relaxed around our own pool and enjoyed the company of the people we came with. Our proximity to all the theme parks at Disney World was incredible. We were less than 1.5 miles from the main gates. We were also minutes from shopping and groceries and some truly delicious Indian take-out.

Not only is staying in a Global Resort Home perfect for families traveling together, it’s also perfect for friends. Last fall I had the time of my life with girlfriends in Kissimmee and my husband is talking about booking a trip there next year with his buddies for a week of bass fishing, race car driving and golfing. Finally, this would be the ideal way to travel with your extended family; grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins all living peacefully under one roof.

You can find information on the house we stayed at here and details on over 300 more properties here.

We’ve always chosen to stay on property (Disney and Universal), however, I’m definitely intrigued by everyone having their own room instead of cramming into a hotel.

When we travel we too love to have our own space…we like coming ‘home; after a long day out exploring where we can chill, do some laundry if we need to and have the kids all in a sleeping space of their own! That’s such a great way to travel with littles!

We love to travel with family and always rent larger properties rather than hotels. This looks like a perfect space to accommodate kids and adults in a way that we all have fun (and allows the adults to hang out after the kids are in bed!)

We’ve travelled in groups before with friends both staying at hotels and renting cottages – the best advice I can give is to have one member of each family as the spokesperson for that family in coordinating activities/flights/lodging. It makes it so much easier to plan!

This would be a great – I love the idea that you have a place to go to after a long day and relax by your own private pool! We are planning to go to Florida soon as the kids want to go to Disney World!

I think our group would love to lounge by the pool. I like that the house isn’t as confining as a hotel room. Space is great!

I really like the idea of taking other families along and staying in a house like this. I’m already planning a trip!!

I’ve done lots of group travel with my sisters and friends, but I’d never thought about Orlando/Kissimmee for adults before reading your comments. I think especially with a house like Global offers, my sisters and I would be very comfortable. We’d enjoy the privacy, the pool, the variety of entertainment nearby (natural and supernatural lol) and the option of staying in for casual meals or treating ourselves to places like Savion.

We would enjoy the sun and warm weather in a magnificent home! Wow, love the pool, the entertainment room and the bedrooms, now this is travelling in luxury!

I’ve travelled with a group of people plenty of times – the trick is to just go with the flow for 95% of the time and the rest, just go and do what YOU want to do!

I would love to have our own pool 🙂 I like how it’s private. That is lovely. You don’t hear the upstair/side/downstairs neighbours in hotel settings.

My family needs their space after spending a day out in the Florida sun, it would be nice for everyone to relax for the evening by doing their own thing!

We would love a place like this to lounge in the pool late in the evening and sit in there with my husband after the kids all go to bed. What an amazing house!

I love how you have a beautiful place where you can relax and everyone has their own space with many bedrooms being available. I also love that you have your very own private pool!

I think our favorite thing would be that we all could relax together without other guests interfering – private pools, planning out our days together in a quiet relaxed space.

We always got a Villa rather than a hotel room, more comfortable space to relax in and you can always do your own laundry and cook a meal instead of eating every meal everyday out..

I love having the extra room instead of being crammed into a hotel. Being able to do laundry (super important) and cook instead of eat out every single mean.. plus it saves $$

I love how its like you have your own home in Florida for a couple of days. You have plenty of space and room to enjoy and relax. You can cook or bbq and enjoy the pool. Love this idea. It would be awesome to try this.

Traveling with a large group of close family and friends to the most beautiful place on earth has ALWAYS been a dream of mine. Vacationing with those that you love, you can’t get much better than that!

The private pool would be the best. I know Disney and other resorts have great pools. But it’s more relaxing when you know your with people your comfortable with.

The ability to make food at home and pack it to bring…. we have several picky eaters, and some with special diets. This allows everyone to feel good about what they are eating!

We’d definitely enjoy the private pool the most!

I think best thing part would be having all the extra room. I can save money by cooking in the kitchen and at night an adult cocktail by the pool while the kids play sounds amazing especially since here in Chicago it was 40 below zero last week. Flordia sounds great right about now.

  29. Adrienne

I’d have to say our group/family would enjoy the pool and the pool table the most.

My group would love the warm weather and the how much space the Global Resort Home rental allows for a large group. I personally need so space and time to my own. I think it makes the time spent together so much better. Having a kitchen to eat in or out is such a treat too!
