The Christmas season is over and it’s time to start sharing again the top ten posts I read this week. Except that I changed over my hosting and the draft for the top ten got left on the old DNS or something like that. It’s all very confusing to me and causes deep anxiety this technology stuff. So, I’m going off the top of my head here and I may not remember all 10 so this may be actually a Top 5 or 6…..maybe 7 if the wine hasn’t caused too much damage.
Here we go:
It was also the start of a new year, just in case you’ve been hiding in a cave since the anti-climatic December 21st. A couple of people I know have the right idea on how to do the new year right.
Sharon from SpeedSkatingMom has chosen a word to define her year. She just makes me look….lazy. Maybe that’s my word?
The rape of the young woman in India has been absolutely consuming me lately. Part of it I’m sure is the fact that I fear for my daughters, but the other part is that I can’t wrap my head around such inhumanity. This article I read on The New York Times gives a chilling account of what it’s like to be a woman in India….more specifically, Delhi. Then, this blog, Indian Sawaal, shares some disturbing statistics.
Finally, Annie from PhDinParenting wrote a post about rape culture and it hits a little closer to home.
The last post I remember linking to this week was from Karen at The Kids are Alright. She listed all the books she read in 2012 and I hung my head in shame. On top of lazy, I’m also not the reader I used to be. Sometimes resolutions write themselves.
So, I hit seven. Not bad. Next week I’ll be back with ten.
PostScript: I remembered eight!!! I thought this post from Chris over at CanadianDad, about how to get your kids to stop playing video games was pretty funny.
I’ve got me some reading to do today!
Looking forward to reading~
Great post AND cut yourself some slack:)
Great list thank you…Perfect for a snowy Sunday afternoon…Cheers
Thanks for including me, Candace! I’ve read a couple of these already and can’t wait to get through the rest.
Loved Sharon’s and Kat’s words for the year. I read their posts earlier this week.
I haven’t written a post yet but my word is going to be Kindness. Plus, continuing Project Happy.
Sunday evening reading once the kids are tucked in. Thanks for including me. Reading through Karen’s book list makes me realize that I need to crack open more books.
Thanks for including me. 🙂
