Family Travel Canada

By //  by Candace Sampson Leave a Comment

What does Canada offer families who can’t ski? Many years ago I lived in New Jersey and spent the time traveling around USA, with the occasional visit to the beautiful, relaxed country of Canada. I must confess, I was a singleton with no children and I would venture across the border to strap on my skis and glide down some of the fabulous slopes that Canada offers. I was spellbound by the parts of the country that I saw; the pace of life and the gentle people I encountered felt like a …

Churchill, Canada

By //  by Candace Sampson 2 Comments

I'm a proud Canadian, of that there can be no doubt, but I have to admit that I've not spent enough time exploring this incredible country. Especially west of Ontario. Or north for that matter. In fact, upon further reflection, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to Canada. I think it's time to change that. The Great Canadian Travel Company sent me this video of Churchill, Canada and I just had to share with you. What an amazing experience this would be! And I know they're not really …

Put Down Your Guns America

By //  by Candace Sampson 9 Comments

Back in late July, I wrote a post titled “Put Your Stones Down”. (God, was it really only July?) Long story short, it was a from-the-heart post in which I begged, probably even condemned, people who were quick to throw judgment about in light of horrific events, to put their stones down. Ultimately, it didn’t really matter why people had children at a midnight screening of Batman. It wasn’t the parents fault they were shot. …

Disaster – Are you Ready for The Worse Case?

By //  by Candace Sampson 4 Comments

I've been awake since 4am, when it felt like someone dropped my house on it's foundation and then the house seemed to shake back into place for another minute or so afterwards. At first, I thought I was dreaming, but when my oldest dog jumped on top of me and wouldn't get off, I knew it was an earthquake. And then I lied there staring at the ceiling, thinking, "What if?" What if that earthquake had been worse? What if we had to leave our home in a hurry? What if disaster struck? Not to get …

Ottawa Tourism

By //  by Candace Sampson 5 Comments

Those who know me well, know that I LOVE my adopted hometown of Ottawa. I sing it's praises everywhere I go. I truly believe it's one of the best places to live in Canada. It also happens to be a great place to visit, any time of the year. Summer is loaded with activities, as you'll see in a minute. Fall is bursting with colour, winter has our world famous Rideau Canal and Winterlude. Spring sees us burst into colour again with tulips everywhere. There is no bad time of the year to visit us. …
