Crush and Covet: Mascara, Salt Blocks & Air Chairs

Sometimes we share things we covet from afar, pining for the unattainable, and other times we share something we’re crushing on because we speak from personal experience. This way you have our Genuine Seal of LIP Approval — we don’t really have a seal at Life in Pleasantville, but if we did there would be a big rubber stamp mark on this whole post.

Anyway…

If you have inside info on anything we’re crushing on, please let us know. We always appreciate justification for what we list.

Candace Derickx  My eyelashes are puny. They are sad little imitations of eyelashes really and even with mascara they’re kind of pathetic. I tried eyelash extensions for a time and while they are lovely, they are actually bad for your eyelashes, causing them to break and fall out. For someone who is holding on to every last eyelash I have with a death grip, I knew I had to stop. Enter Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes. First introduced to me by someone as a way to avoid false eyelashes for my girls at cheer competitions, I fell in love with it. Retailing for roughly $30 CAD, I initially vowed to only wear it for special occasions and on weekends. HA! That was funny. I’m totally addicted now and even if I don’t put any other make up on, I always put on my Younique mascara.

Anne Radcliffe – I want: a Himalayan Salt Block. Why? I don’t know! But I heard it’s amazeballs! And it’s a kitchen “gadget!” And you can serve on it and cook on it and use it to marinate stuff. Basically, it’s like the Jr. Mad Scientist Kit for Food Bloggers. In fact, I should probably have more than one, so I can have one that stays all pretty and another that I cure on my stove so I can cook with it. Guilt free.

And therefore it should belong to me so I can put my foods on a slab of 600 million year old ocean, like. A. Boss.

Kelli Catana – Maybe it’s simply the fact that I wish I were always on a beach somewhere, but Bath and Body Works newest collection of Hawaiian and Tropical inspired products have me seriously crushing. These lines feature products like hand soap, body wash, body butter and candles all with scents inspired by the islands. I’ve stocked my home with products titled Oahu, Copacabana Coconut, Papaya Sunrise and Caribbean Escape and I love them all! I will definitely be stocking up on all my favourite products. They make great teacher and hostess gifts too!

Laureen Farnam – What does “home” mean to you? Is it where you currently live or where you grew up? Do you have an image in your mind that quickly brings you back? For me, “home” means many things. I have lived in a close-knit community and far from home, and made each city my new home. I adapt pretty quickly when I’m in a new place and I joke about being dropped in the middle of Istanbul alone and very likely having a friend within a day or so. Maybe it’s that I was born with the gift of gab or maybe it’s because I am Nova Scotian and as such represent my province as positively as possible, by keeping that whole “Maritimers are so friendly!” thing going. Well, Beck & Boosh carries these amazing T-shirts that instantly lets anyone you meet know exactly where your heart is. My only conundrum here is, do I choose Cape Breton or Nova Scotia at large?

Leslie Foster – I first tried an air chair at Nordik Spa in Chelsea.  It cradled me in all the right places and I closed my eyes and soaked up the warmth of the unseasonably warm fall day.  Not one to miss a beat, my husband surprised me with an Air Chair for my birthday.  We hung it in my office and I frequently sit there with my laptop or a good book.

Wow such awesome products! That chair looks scary to get into but I bet it is quite comfy.
