Fibre loves you. But it’s an unrequited love. Sadly, many Canadians only get half the amount of fibre they need daily. Poor, poor neglected fibre. Poor neglected you too, because fibre is important even if you do keep shunning it.
Fibre helps keep you regular, it can help lower overall cholesterol levels by lowering “bad” cholesterol levels, fibre can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, plus it’s a rock star in the world of weight management. Still not loving fibre? I get it, sometimes it can be less than appetizing. That’s why you’re going to be all ga-ga over fibre when you try the Fibre 1 Almond & Cluster Delight Cereal from General Mills.
General Mills sent me and my family a box to try. I was going to try the one-week challenge but I wasn’t able to actually finish it, because my family finished off the box before I could!! D’oh. Failure on the challenge but a big win if the whole family loves it! To me, it’s a hit, if even the 8 year old will eat it. It’s also good to know that we’re all getting 40% of our daily value of fibre per serving.
Because as my friend Theresa Albert from My Friend in Food says, “Fibre is crucial to keep things moving. It isn’t really true that you are what you eat, it is true that you are what you can digest and adequate fibre is crucial in that process”.
General Mills wants to help you get something going with fibre.

Plus 4 different kinds of sugar AND honey. Sorry Candace, I don’t usually beak off about these kinds of things but I’ve become keenly aware of sugar content in everything recently after our family went through an ‘elimination diet’ to determine some food issues. It drives me nuts that these companies have one ‘good’ ingredient surrounded by sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar and … honey, but can market how health conscious they are. I wish I could say we’ll try it out for the fibre content, but we won’t. :-/
Hi Shandra,
You’re right sugar is insidious and in just about everything it seems. My view is that sugar in moderation is okay, but that absolutely it does need to be monitored. Thanks for stopping by. Long time no see 🙂
