You know when you think you won’t do something and then you’re surprised when you actually do? Two years ago I was at restaurant with a group of people and had my iPhone in my back pocket. I forgot it was there when I went to the washroom and as I was pulling my pants down I heard the water in the bowl splash. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! And there it was, the thing I thought I’d never do — I reached in to that dirty public toilet and grabbed it faster than you can say “That’s gross!”
After I essentially bleached myself I then left with a wet phone and a hurting bank account. Ouch. My $800 phone was toast. This tragic scenario of having a phone get wet sadly hasn’t happened just once in this family but three times! My son jumped in the ocean in Belize in a moment of youthful exuberance and forgot to remove his phone from his shorts and my husband, a pool builder, dropped his in — you guessed it — a pool.
So, when the people from Kensington sent me a sample of their EVAP Wet Electronic Rescue Kit I was in love. With a suggested retail price of $19.99 it seems like a small price to pay for peace of mind on a phone that costs hundreds of dollars, not to mention the lost data and pain of setting it up all again.
In fact the EVAP Wet Electronic Rescue Kit saves 90% of phones damaged by water. Impressive. What I like best though is the portability of the EVAP. I keep mine in my purse now so that it’s with me at all times – at the swimming pool, when I travel, at the beach and yes, in public washrooms. Watch this video below and see how easy it is to lose your phone in water.
You can find the EVAP Wet Electronic Rescue Kit in Canada at Best Buy and Future Shop in addition to online retailers. In the U.S. you can find the EVAP Wet Electronic Rescue Kit on Amazon.com.
