Apparently it’s all fun and games in the kitchens of LIPers lately, between lightsabre battles and scuba diving tea men. Basically, we know how to enjoy even the mundane moments and we want you to as well.
Heather Greenwood Davis – My secret? I didn’t drink a full cup of coffee until about five years ago. Until then? Nothing but tea. When you’re depending on Earl Grey for your caffeine, a simple no-name bag isn’t going to cut it. As a result my loose-leaf tea infuser game is strong. I’ve got a reclining man, the every popular mini-teapot and the classic sphere but it hasn’t stopped me for considering buying this guy. Who couldn’t use a little scuba action in their mug?
Chef Christopher – The holidays may be over, but the Force has awoken and BBQ season is on the horizon. Which explains why I am adding Jedi skills to my chef skills with these intergalactic Star Wars Lightsaber BBQ Tongs. Complete with a red blade cover and official Star Wars sound effects that are unleashed every time you open the tongs to flip your meat or vegetables, I can sense the Force will be strong this summer.
Katja Wulfers – I love hiking and the outdoors and I’ve always been a fan of Roots clothing and accessories. My favourite bag? An Indiana Jones-style Roots leather bag that’s travelled around the world with me and gets more beautiful and supple with age. My high school regret? Not a boy, but the best sweatshirt ever that came with me on camping trips and vacations in France and finally died after 18 years of loving. There’s no reason I need this blanket, but that doesn’t stop me from hoping it finds its way into my house. Roots and Pendleton teamed up to create the Trans Canada Blanket in honour of the longest, continuous hiking trail that runs from coast to coast. The trail is 80% completed (it will be finished in 2017) and a portion of the sale goes towards supporting that project.
Candace Derickx – I recently met with Dr. Nodwell at The Ottawa Clinic to discuss my *ahem* aging skin. He mentioned that any woman over 40 should be religiously using a retinol in their skin care regimen. Retinols are antioxidants, exfoliators, wrinkle fighters, and improve discolouration. Do I really need to go on here? I’ve been using Skin Medica since December and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my skin already.
Maija Craig – The problem with contributing to this site is the other writers (I’m looking at you Candace!) keep talking about places I want — NEED — to go to. Ste. Anne’s Spa is calling my name and it’s the top place on my radar for a getaway with my husband.
