There was a time we celebrated scoring floor seats at Depeche Mode concerts and the latest shade of Bonne Bell Lip Smackers, now we tingle at blenders and lotions. Blenders have become sexy thanks to horsepower and torque and precise control, and the writers are jonesing to get in on the action.
Chef Christopher – I’ve taken a recent liking to breakfast. More specifically an obsession with waffles. There’s something I really about them that just calls to me. So naturally I need the best when it comes to a waffle maker and apparently that’s the All Clad Round Waffle Maker. It serves up the over-sized breakfast dish in perfect fashion with its double-sided waffle press and heating elements creating the doughy pockets and golden brown goodness. Thankfully waffles can be enjoyed any time of day, so it doesn’t mean I have to get up early.
Maija Craig – I like big purses and I cannot lie! I almost never buy myself a new purse, but when I do, it’s big and can carry everything from my laptop, all the necessary chargers, my kids’ dance shoes, taekwondo uniform, and snacks for up to ten children (cause you just never know who won’t like their pre-dance snack their parents packed for them). This Matt & Nat tote popped into my inbox thanks to my Indigo e-newsletter subscription and I was instantly in love. Bonus points for being grey (stylish but neutral), 100% vegan, and lined with recycled materials. Oh, and you can order online – so no having to brave the mall!
Candace Derickx – The journey to reclaim my youthful glow continues, or at least the quest to slow down the march of time across my face. The first step has been to undo some of the sun damage I did in my teens. If I could go back and tell my stupid ass 16-year-old self something it would be, “Crisco is NOT suntan lotion.” I’m a true convert to Skin Medica products since Dr. Nodwell at The Ottawa Clinic introduced me to them. First retinol, and then Lytera, which hand-over-my-heart, works. It drastically reduced the look of my brown sun spots in just a few weeks. I’m a true believer over here!
Carla Young – I love the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant because it can be added to my regular, everyday cleanser or used on its own, and it makes your skin feel so soft thanks to ingredients like lactic and salicylic acids and rice powder.
Jeni Marinucci – They’re called smoothies for a reason, and I like smoothies, not “chunkies.” Look; if I wanted a salad I put these ingredients in a bowl but what I’m looking to drink my breakfast I want to blender up to the job in creating the perfect smoothie. Surprise chunks of kale or spinach up a straw are not part of a great morning routine and so I covet the holy grail of blending machines: the million-dollar Vitamix.
