Raspberry Scones

By //  by Candace Sampson

I use the word "easy" in a lot of my recipes because I believe that cooking/baking should be just that. Most of us don't have the time for fussy. Personally, I like to leave the fussy stuff for Sundays. This recipe for scones is a weekday morning thing and it's one of my girls favorite breakfasts with a tall glass of milk. I found this recipe in an Everyday Cooking magazine a couple of years ago. Raspberry Scones 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface 1/4 cup …

Bunny Bait – Make this for Easter

By //  by Candace Sampson

A few years ago I kept coming across this picture on Pinterest, called Bunny Bait. "Cute", I thought. I decided to give it a try AND.OH.MY.GOD. This isn't Bunny Bait, it's crack! No kidding, as I was scarfing handfuls of it in my mouth, I turned to my husband and said, "This should be classified as an illegal substance. I would pimp you out for this stuff". It is that good. As it happens, the husband is now an ex-husband, but the Bunny Bait remains. Some things stand the test of time better …

Quick And Easy Skillet Banana Bread

By //  by Candace Sampson

I love my cast-iron skillets, especially for making desserts like this quick and easy Skillet Banana Bread. They are my most favorite thing in my kitchen. I love how they cook everything so even and retain heat. They move from stove-top to oven and back again with ease, and they are super easy to maintain. Also, no scary chemicals like in many of the non-stick pans on the market. Using a cast iron pan even adds iron into your diet! How cool is that? Hands down Lodge is the best and I …

Pistachio Brownie Wedges

By //  by Candace Sampson

I am in the middle of a chocolate overdose as I write this. My dear husband put a request in for these yesterday and unfortunately for him, I've eaten most of them. I. Can't. Stop. I love chocolate and nuts. Oh puhleeze, keep the nut jokes to yourself, you know what I mean. I don't know where I found this recipe. It's from one of those holiday magazines they put out every year. The one where they recycle the exact same recipes every year but change the cover picture, fooling me into buying it …

Lemon Crème Brûlée Tart

By //  by Candace Sampson

When life hands me lemons, I like to make lemonade, lemon loaf, lemon squares, and lemon pies. My favorite thing in the world to make though is this Lemon Crème Brûlée Tart. This has been in my baking repertoire since 2004 when I found it in a Bon Appetit magazine. It's become a family favorite and my good friend Tracey's as well. Tracey is a formally trained chef at the Cordon Bleu and Stratford cooking school. She also owns an incredible gourmet food company called Epicuria. This lemon tart …
