Spring has sprung. We survived! Maybe not on the east coast of Canada or the US, but hang in there, friends, you’ll be BBQing by August.
Since we’re coming out of hibernation any moment now, we need to perk up our faces, our drinks, and our wardrobes to make the most of all the fresh air we’ll (finally) be able to enjoy. The writers here have you covered, so feel free to thank them with hand-written love notes for all the help they’re providing with the weekly Crush and Covet.
Kelly Williams: “I am one of those people who have dark under eye circles regardless of how much sleep I get. For years I tried different concealers but I had a hard time finding a product with the right colour and light smooth texture. I started using Garnier Skin Renew Anti Dark Circle Eye Roller a few years ago and it has made my mornings a breeze. The roller deposits the perfect amount of product, it’s light and sheer but somehow covers the purple half moons that adorn the underside of my peepers. It’s amazing and I don’t go a day without it.”
Robin Edwards: “I discovered Matt & Steve’s Extreme Beans at one of my favourite bars in Mont Tremblant. There’s nothing better that an après ski (or après anything) spicy Caesar or Bloody Mary to set you right. When I was served my drink with a green bean in it, I was a little skeptical, but from that day on I shunned the common celery stalk have become a green bean addict. Matt & Steve are long-time friends and former bartenders who wanted to do something different. They used an old family recipe to create what has become a phenomenon – green beans picked with just the right amount of spice.
I eat Extreme Beans right out of the jar for a snack. And I have been known to request extras when I order a Caesar at a restaurant (as well as inform restaurants foolish enough not to serve them about how they really need to). Matt & Steve also make a tasty pickled olive with a piece of Extreme Bean in the middle – perfect for those Martini lovers. Matt & Steve’s Extreme Beans are available at most major retailers and are always available in my fridge. Sorry celery!”
Leslie Foster: “The Surface Pro 3 is so sexy. I definitely want one, but my current laptop works just fine. I must, however, confess to being a little careless lately with tall, tippy glasses of water on my desk. I’m in love with the sleek, portable design and tablet-like operation with the full-functionality of a PC. It seems to be the true all-in-one.”
Elaine Atkins: “I crush hard for anything Soia & Kyo. This Canadian outerwear designer has my heart every season and I’ve been lucky enough to find a few of their jackets in at Winners or Marshall’s. This is the Soia & Kyo trench I’m eyeing right now. I’ll be looking to save up my pennies or keep my eyes peeled for a good deal on this one!”
Katja Wulfers: “See below. Any questions? The sweatshirt sums it up nicely, right? When I began running several years ago it was because my doctor threatened me with stronger measures — like medication — if I didn’t get my rising blood pressure under control. Stress and poor choices had led me down the garden path and it was time to find my inner athlete once again. I did, but what I also found was the best form of stress relief and meditation. Running became my zen time. So, yes, I do run to burn off the crazy. I need this hoodie to give people around me a heads-up; it’s common courtesy.”
