2013 Beauty Gift Guide
I’ve always been very loyal, when it comes to beauty/hair products. However, I learned something this year. Companies can actually discontinue making products, products some people might really love, without any warning.
To my dismay, some of my favorite products are no longer available: Dolce & Gabbana red cap perfume, MAC Tinted Lip conditioner SPF 15, Wella’s Brilliance Color Protection Serum and most recently Victoria’s Secret PINK Heartbreaker Push-up Plunge Bra.
So let me impart my new found wisdom.
Tip # 1 Always have a backup to your favorite hair and beauty products.
Tip # 2 If you really love something and if it’s appropriate buy it in bulk.
As a result, over the past few months, I’ve searched and found some new favorite beauty/hair products. Some of them are real time savers, so not only are you giving the gift of beauty but the gift of time too!
Available at The Bay and MAC Cosmetics, Rideau Centre.
This has saved me so much time in the morning! The liner goes on smoothly, evenly and it does not smudge. It’s so much easier than putting liner on with a brush.
The next three products are available at Texture Hair Salon which is great because it means less time running around and you’ll have expert hair/beauty advice at your fingertips. (I’ll be doing a complete review on these products on our blog in the New Year.)
My mother used Wella products when she was a stylist – so I’ll always be a Wella girl.
Wella Professionals Oil Reflections
Wella Brilliance Leave-In Balm for Long, Color-Treated Hair
This is my new favorite “hair cocktail” these products work great and smell AMAZING! I have actually been tempted on a few occasions to use the oil as a perfume.
TIGI Cosmetics High Density Quad Eyeshadow
I was instantly impressed with this product. This eyeshadow goes on like silk and it lasts all day.
These next three products are available at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Tweezerman Classic Lash Curler
This makes applying mascara so much easier. The silicone lash pad is thick and round so it curls without creasing your lashes. Tweezerman Petite Tweezer Set
Having well groomed eyebrows is so important. There is nothing worse than seeing a stray hair or two on a night out. This is a great gift because it can fit in a tiny clutch and it comes in a leather case.
I love, love, love my BB cream. It combines a bunch a products into one – saving time, money and space in my makeup drawer. Picking out products like this as a gift can be difficult – so when in doubt go with a gift certificate.
This is the gift that keeps on giving. I got a subscription for my birthday this year and I look forward to it every month. It’s filled with beauty/hair/fashion articles and advice and it covers all the trends.
These make great gifts; they have something for everyone at variety of price points. I also love their packaging.
Manicure or Pedicure Gift Certificates
My favorite way to pamper myself is with a manicure or pedicure. It’s so relaxing. I love it. I usually go with a friend; we grab a Starbucks coffee, chat and flip through magazines. There are so many places you can go but my favorite spot in Ottawa is Devine Nails and Spa. ]You can do this as a stocking stuffer – along with a coffee gift card and magazine.
Have fun shopping and spreading the gift of beauty this holiday season!
