Top Ten Movies Set in NYC

Not to sound cliche, but I love New York City. I can hardly wait to see it next week when I return for Blogher ’12.

My love affair with NYC started years ago though….watching movies. Now of course that I’ve been there I am either always saying “Oooh, I’ve seen that!” or “Ooooh, I need to see that!” Here then is my list of the ten best movies set in New York City. What movies are your favourites set in New York City?

Elf

West Side Story

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

The Godfather

Ghostbusters

When Harry Met Sally

Three Men and A Baby

Sex and The City (The Movie)

Wall Street

The Avengers

  1. Breakfast at Tiffany’s!! My all time fave New York movie :)

  2. I don’t really have a favourite set in New York movie. I just love New York. Wish I could go some day.

You really need to watch Serendipity. hehe!

  3. I LOVE Elf!

  4. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is ALWAYS top 5 for me and honestly, who doesn’t love John Cusack (Serendipity).
Rent is AWESOME (if you like singing) and most of Scent of a Woman is in NYC, which is also top 5 for me.
If I didn’t have a family, I probably would have moved to NYC years ago. Such a wonderful, awesome, amazing city. Enjoy your time there!

    • I’m a HUGE Rent fan, although I prefer the Live On Broadway recording to the theatrical version so it didn’t come to mind for me.

Apparently I need to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I’ve never seen it!

Yes Maranda you do! Such a good movie. But as I said above in a comment, it’s really about Audrey. :)

    • Candace says:

Scent of a Woman! I forgot about that movie. I loved the young guy in that. What was his name? Chris something?

      • Shelley says:

Chris O’Donnell – you can see him all grown up and yummy in NCIS:Las Angeles with the equally yummy LL Cool J

(excuse me whilst I grab a cold shower)

  5. I have to add my favs too

    1) Devil Wears Prada
    2) Big
    3) Kramer vs Kramer

    • Candace says:

Yes, yes and no for me. Gah Kramer vs Kramer just ripped my heart out and stomped all over it :) Love Meryl though! And BIG…classic!

  6. I love Fame (both versions) and of course The Muppets Take Manhattan.

  7. Keep in mind that I am saying this as a man but I really enjoyed Serendipity and think you should check it out :) Don’t tell anyone…..

Great list though, I love Elf!
