Ten Posts February 24, 2013

Let’s jump right into my top ten this week:

It would seem that if dressed in Emperor’s Clothing people are willing to pay for anything. A restaurant in Tokyo has done just that.

I love this post from Heather Greenwood Davis who was guest posting at Embrace The Chaos. I couldn’t agree with her more about her assessment of Oscar Pistorius and others like him who are knocked off the pedestals we put them on.

This article from The New York Times about the science of addictive junk food is a must-read. I have not been able to stop thinking about it.

Being a mom is hard sometimes. Really, really hard. And we all hit those moments where you just want to run away (or at least escape to the mall without them). This is a great post to remind you why you don’t give up.

This post on Buzzfeed featuring Michelle Obama and Jimmy Fallon has left me feeling envious. Can we please get someone this cool in Canada? Please. Anyone?

Not a post I know, but I absolutely need to get my hands on this book.

I wrote about my pet peeves this week over at the YummyMummyClub. One of them is the Harlem Shake, which is driving me bonkers. But it doesn’t bother me near as much as these residents of Harlem.

This story about a homeless man who returned a ring to its rightful owner is fascinating considering over $95,000 has been raised for him so far. But what really struck me was his response: “I like it, but I don’t think I deserve it,” he said. “What I actually feel like is, ‘what has the world come to when a person who returns something that doesn’t belong to him and all this happens?'” Harris said. And how, Mr. Harris. I think it’s lovely that money is being raised for this man and that karma is being kind to him, but he couldn’t be more right. Are we really in that bad of shape?

I came across this post on racism via Annie from PhDParenting this morning it is sickening to know that not only that this kind of racism exists but that organizations are still willing to bend for these ridiculous types of demands.

Cheating a bit but oh well, I make the rules in this happy place. Tina Fey, Paul Rudd and Lily Tomlin! It’s the motherload. So, while it’s not a read, I just had to share this trailer for Admission.
