I started reading the book Game of Thrones not too long ago and I was enthralled. I absolutely loved the book. So, it goes without saying that I couldn’t wait to see the series and I immediately ran out to get it.
To me, it lived up to the book and it didn’t, all at the same time. There are things that have been translated from the book quite literally to the screen, and despite the fact that I read it, I was still surprised to see it so graphically portrayed on film. On the other hand, because there is so much detail in the book, it was impossible for the series to catch every detail. While both the book and series are excellent, I think the book is the clear winner. There are those that disagree.
This is what I gather from those who have done both. If you’ve read the book first, you’ll be a little let down by the series. If you’ve watched the series, you’ll never be able to get through the book. Either way, you’re bound to love one or the other.
